On Authority and the Moon

Once upon a time, Galileo was the only person on earth who knew a truth about a heavenly body. His solitude didn’t make him wrong. Knowing what was true didn’t make him exclusively happy or shield him from harm from the offended, ignorant, self-righteous masses.

I have observed the spirits of the earth and found these words about offenses, vices, and virtues to ring true and the metaphor of Humpty Dumpty to be helpful with spiritual growth. It doesn’t make me happy or shield me from harm. It makes me wise, helps me humble myself, and helps me identify enemies - strengths I can leave the only egg in my wake.

The moon can’t speak for itself. It needed a humble spirit to witness its majesty and dispense with the preconceived notions that clouded its youthful perspective… To my knowledge, I am the first to solve this riddle and put it on the internet… And like my humble predecessor, only tests through time can vindicate an egg trying to figure out heaven’s greatnesses.

Rest in peace, Galileo.
